While staying in Madrid, we had the opportunity to visit and dine at the InterContinental Madrid. The hotel is located on the prestigious Paseo de la Castellana, located in the center of the city. The InterContinental Madrid is a former 18th century palace and is a very successful leisure and business accommodation. It has been Spain’s Leading Business Hotel for two years running, as recognized by World Travel Awards.

Entering the hotel we were impressed by the bright, open lobby area. Marble floors, traditional furniture, and stylish wood trim reflect the history of the hotel. Just off the lobby was a lively bar area… and we headed there first!

Not only did we get lunch… we got to go into the kitchen and watch our lunch being prepared. And the result – an incredible paella! We were impressed not just by the passion the chef and his staff displayed in the kitchen, but even more by how GREAT the paella tasted.

The rooms were traditional in design, comfortable, and had all the amenities and services you would expect in a 5-star leisure and business hotel. This is a very large hotel with 260+ rooms and 33 suites. It also includes a 24-hour fitness center with a sauna, an alfresco terrace, and multiple restaurants.

We also visited the Club InterContinental, pictured above on the bottom left. The Club InterContinental is an exclusive salon with a team of professionals who offer personalized service and special amenities – like a private check-in, late check-out, internet access and all day snack and refreshments. This hotel is a short taxi ride from many sites in Madrid, and a great option!
