We were quite fortunate to visit the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona in October and then return for a weekend stay in November. Special thanks to Carolina Wechsung, Leisure International Sales Manager, and her team for making us feel welcome. What an incredible hotel!
The Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is located Passeig de Gràcia, near the Casa Batlló by Gaudi, in the heart of historic Barcelona. The hotel is situated in an elegant mid 20th century building, the interior renovated in a highly stylized and contemporary design. Immediately you know you’re in a Mandarin Oriental. Impeccable service, intimate and stylish surroundings, and an “air of calm” that contrasts with the busy shopping street outside. If you’re looking for a restful haven, this is the spot!
There are just 120 rooms and suites in the the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. The design is modern, and comfortable. You’ll see the oriental heritage of Mandarin throughout the rooms. The rooms face Passeig de Gràcia or an inner courtyard. Our Terrace Suite faced the landscaped interior garden courtyard where we enjoyed sitting on our balcony, with a glass of wine and quiet surroundings. Quite welcome after a busy day exploring Barcelona!
As you would expect the rooms have ALL the modern features you would expect: flat-screen TV’s, high speed internet connectivity, laptop connection to in-room LCD screen, video-on-demand and surround sound, more than 100 television channels and 4 radio channels, CD/DVD player in all rooms, three multi-line telephones, all with voicemail and data line capabilities… and more.

The suites at the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona are impressive. We felt very fortunate to stay in a Terrace Suite. All suites enjoy the benefit of butler service. They suite options include:

As you wold expect of a Mandarin Oriental hotel… the spa and wellness center is simply amazing. It is presented as “the most serene space in the center of Barcelona” and it certainly feels like this when you enter. There are multiple private treatment rooms and spa options available to you. Do reserve in advance!
During our stay we visited the Banker’s Bar. What an apt name as the ceiling is covered in safety deposit boxes. The bar reflects the history of the building, which was – in a previous life – a bank!
We also took advantage of the breakfast bar morning. Unfortunately, we did not get the opportunity to dine at Moments, the signature two-Michelin-star restaurant, which serves fare by Carme Ruscalleda, the world’s only female chef who has been awarded seven Michelin stars.
We enjoyed our stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. The stylish interior, great spa, impressive suite, and wonderful service made the weekend pass far too quickly. We look forward to our next trip to Barcelona, and a stay at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona.
